Not on your life. This situation is so messed up I can't even begin to believe it. It seems like we learn nothing from our past.

Not very likely...Just watched a sitcom where they were going to sue the bank because the guy couldn't afford the balloon payment on his adjustable rate mortgage.

In response to Bella:Builders aren't building. Sellers can't sell. And everyone is suffering. Seems a pity that it all came from banks selling to high risk buyers.

In response to Thor:Sadly, that guy might have won. The public isn't feeling especially charitable toward banks right now.

In response to corinthians:Yeah. It DOES seem really unfair that the banks messed up and that everyone is paying the price as a result. I hope that the government can find a way to crack down on them so that this doesn't happen again.

In response to Cass:I don't know what the government would do. What they didn't doesn't seem to be illegal, just extremely bad business.

In response to corinthians:If it isn't illegal, it should be. Maybe they could start by banning such risky business practices.

In response to Bella:I'm just not sure that you want the government to be regulating how risky a loans the banks can make. It seems a little too restrictive to me.

The housing market is a complete and total mess. I've got family in the mortgage business and friends in the realtor business and both are seriously hurting right now. Only thing saving many people's home is the fact that the big companies can't do much with foreclosed homes right now either. There's no market for them either!

Most Americans live with three progressive concepts in mind: 1) work and make a liveable income, 2) find a house to call your home 3) find friends or a loved one in life and consider starting a family. The American dream is fulfilled through home ownership. The housing market will never go under until all Americans can realize the American Dream.
