Name: Mass Media DOB: A Long Time Ago
Our national media is supposed to report the news and current events in an un-biased fashion. They are supposed to leave out any personal or political beliefs so we can look at the facts and decide for ourselves. However, it has been said that the media tends to swing one way or another. Most think Liberals control the mass media, which may be true, but it seems like Conservatives are taking over fast.
Liberals control television, but Conservatives control talk radio.
So, is our mass media Liberal or Conservative?

liberal for sure. That's why people rip on Fox for having more conservative news (supposedly), they stick out because they are the only ones.

The mass media has been liberal for some time now. The rise of conservative talk radio has allowed conservative viewpoints to be aired, and views that challenge the positions taken by the mass media are upsetting the liberal media. But the liberal media may be sliding...look at the canning of Rather by CBS and the loss of circulation (8%) by the LA Times, and the diminishing influence of the NY Times, Washington Post, etc...they no longer have a monopoly on the "truth".

I agree that the majority of the mass media is Liberal, like TV and newspapers. But, Conservative radio is taking over.

I think the majority of mass media is conservative but, only because they recieve more air time. I think America as a whole is quickly becoming more liberal. All talk radio is conservatives, Fox news...conservative, CNN... I think could possibly be considered more liberal.

TV and newspapers are usually liberal. Radio is becoming more the domain of conservatives. The Internet is still the great equalizer -- everyone has an equal voice.

Could any of you imagine that on Nov. 1st 1944 most of the news media reporting on the death of the 300,000th soldier??? Probably not. Now days however, most of the media reports the deaths of our heros like a sick count. I remember a couple of weeks ago that the press (TV and papers) that we'd lost as many people in Afghanistan and Iraq as we did on Sept. 11th. What the hell is that about??? Talk radio celebrates our heros, and the mass media uses there deaths as a political message.

No question about it. The slant use to be less obvious, but now its such a given that no one even hides it any more. What amuses me is that every once in awhile when a conservative view gets through it sticks out like a sore thumb and THAT piece is labeled slanted!

Mass media, in general, is liberal whether on tv or the radio or print publications. Journalits are supposed to be unbiased--- but how can we expect them, as mere humans, really to be?

I think that the mass media is liberal because that is what will give them the best ratings! And it's all about the ratings...

Jesus, I stepped into the retard zone. You morons talk about Fox CNN and MSNBC as if they are giving you the news. They offer about 3 minutes of reporting for every hour of COMMENTARY! Of course they both slant one way or another, its COMMENTARY. Mindless sheep turn to the television for mindless news, people who want to know read, even if the media was totally slanted one way or the other there will always be people who claim to be suspect. The media has one agenda, to get ratings and keep its viewers from switching the channel so they can collect add revenues. It would be more fair to say they are bias in advertising.

Mass media, including TV as well as radio among other methods. Is neither conservative or liberal. There is not one medium that is of one end of the political spectrum, while another supports the opposite end. Air America is liberal radio. Rush Limbaugh is the loudest mouthpiece for conservative radio. Howard Stern, definitely not conservative, is arguably the most famous radio personality of the last 20 years (although I think any frat guy in the country could do the job as well as he does). Conservatives often confuse truth and objectivity with liberalism which is why The New York Times is so hated by them. If conservatives don't like the news being reported, maybe they should try doing something positive for a change.

Believe me, we do not confuse truth with Liberalism. If a Liberal tells you to do something, make sure you do the complete opposite.
