Title:
No Money in a Cure
Created on:
July 30, 2007
Since people in the United States happen to be the most medicated and most treated people around the globe, one has to wonder why we hear the word ‘treatment’ more often than ‘cure’. Cancer has been studied for multiple generations and, though we have found better ways to treat the disease, we still don’t have a surefire cure?
Is it possible that pharmaceutical companies are paying to have discovered cures – which are not owned by them – covered up?
With journals on DCA and 'Milk Therapy', one has to wonder if we found validity to our paranoia.

Cancer is a nice population control as well, another reason to let it hang around.

How much would you pay for a cure? How much would you pay for treatment? I say, "Case closed."

I'm not buying it either. I think that if a company had found a cure, they would have milked every last dollar out of it.

In response to southboca:Of course people will be willing to pay more for a cure, but I have to say that the pharm co.s make more of ongoing treatment drugs than an all end cure. It is like they can make a light bulb that will never burn out, but then people will nol onger buy replacement bulbs.

If this ever turns out to be true, death will be too good for whoever hid the information.

I don't think that anyone could be that callous. I also think that they'd have a very difficult time getting researchers to surpress those kinds of findings. Whoever discovers the cure for cancer will go down in history. Not many people want to give up that kind of fame...even for lots of money.

Can you say conspiracy theory? That's what this feels like. Keeping cells from dividing is not an easy thing to do.

I am still doubtful about the cure especially in cancer and therefore it is difficult for me to say.

I doubt it. Sure, it's possible that the cure exists and it's being held back, but as a couple people have pointed out, the companies could make so much money off a cure.

In response to Ajax:Not to mention that their stock prices would skyrocket.

In response to skywalker:Good debate, but how come you always put the first comment and then nothing else?

I agree with southboca that the stock prices will not only go up, the companies will earn huge money.

In response to sweetnothing:I don't know if this is why....but, my guess would be visibility...you add a first comment, it puts the debate in the recently commented section so people are more likely to check it out,

In response to southboca: I forgot about that! A cure is definitely financially smart.
